That Date's a Little Odd...

Just got a marketing e-mail sent to me dated August 25 2502. Thought I would share it with you all:

AD2502– The Echelon Collection is proud to announce the 50th anniversary edition of Coming Home, author Yuris Okan's groundbreaking narrative of the Perthan experience of the Second Inter-Solar War. This edition has been lovingly restored to its 2452 format and includes a collection of fascinating historic documents, commentaries, and analysis by modern literary authorities who still debate this controversial work. For those who have had the fortune to be reading Coming Home for the first time, or those that approach it as an old friend, here is the original synopsis provided by Golden Gift publications in 2452.

“At the close of IW-2 Yuris Okan is on the razors edge. A conscripted soldier in Perth's genocidal war machine, Okan has witnessed the failure and defeat of his planet's Inter-solar ambitions first hand. Now he has been offered a slim chance to claim amnesty from his nation's actions and return to his home-world. It will mean a journey by train, ground car, and foot over 32,000 kilometers and two continents. Along the way, he is pursued by vengeful insurgents, dodges police and CSA soldiers, and fears discovery by his own forces who would execute him as a deserter or force him to die in doomed last stand. The vibrant life of Gardenza, its verdant jungles, teeming mega-cities, and close knit island communities shines in Okan's vivid descriptions. The stories of its people show the power of the human spirit, which rises up even in the face of the some of the worst tragedies and greatest atrocities human kind has ever committed. Amid it all, Okan wishes for the same thing many did in Gardenza as it teetered on the precipice of anarchy. To go home...”
